Insomnia can affect us all at sometime throughout our
lives, from childhood right through to our elder years.
We know that a warm drink can help us relax.
Some have a cup of tea or coffee before going off to
bed but find it almost impossible to drift off to sleep
for some time not only because tea and coffee contain
caffeine but they also need some time of consciousness
to enable digestion to take place. |

The digestive organs are stimulated into action and the nervous
system continues taut instead of being relaxed. Milk based
drinks have the same effect and likewise need digesting before
a good nights sleep is possible.
Alcoholic beverages generally contain sulphites which can
cause irritability and headaches and alcohol is also a diuretic,
therefore causing dehydration and ultimately an inconsistent
sleep pattern. As people become increasingly aware of the
effects that modern medication has on our bodies as well,
many are seeking natural alternatives to help alleviate or
overcome their sleeping problems.
Grape Juice has long been reputed as being a beneficial “nightcap”
especially for those suffering from insomnia as it passes
through the alimentary tract in approximately 15 minutes and
no digestive disturbance ensues. It also has a soothing and
quietening effect on the nervous system and induces restful
relaxation of all the vital organs.
With this in mind Lloyd’s Vineyard developed a superior
product especially for this purpose aptly named “Goodnight”.
The balance of selected herbs and spices which include cloves,
aniseed, cinnamon, valerian, lemon, chamomile, fennel, strawberry
clover, dandelion, chicory, bay, thyme and rosemary combined
with a non-alcoholic organic grape juice base not only has
the wonderful ability to induce sleep when diluted with
30% hot water and consumed upon retiring but is extremely
nutritious and has an unusually delicious taste.
Of course Goodnight can be consumed at any time of the day
as well and makes a delicious thirst quenching drink diluted
with up to 50% cold water (still or sparkling) poured over
crushed ice. It is a great fluid replenishing drink providing
instant energy. Goodnight is also a great compliment to
any meal as an alternative to wine and can be used in dishes
where wine is required for a delicious sweet and spicy flavour.
